In October 2009, Barry G. Bollinger obtained the most significant defense verdict in Cook County history. In 2006, a Cook County jury rendered a $35 million dollar verdict against Debra Thedos and the Cook County Sheriff's Office, in the case entitled Petraski v. Thedos, et al.
Following that verdict, the excess carrier for the defendants placed Barry as lead appellate and trial counsel. The appeal of the verdict was successful and the retrial of the case, with Barry as lead defense counsel, resulted in a verdict of Not Guilty.
