In March 2010 Jeremiah P. Connolly obtained a defense verdict on behalf of Service Limousine and its driver, Jerry Fiscus, in a catastrophic injury case involving an automobile accident on the I-90 Expressway in Chicago. Plaintiff sustained massive head injury and multiple fractures and was in a coma for months before undergoing rehabilitation.
Plaintiff suffered severe and permanent cognitive impairment, physical deficits, impaired speech and impaired vision. He can no longer work, cannot take care of himself and utilizes a walker and wheelchair for movement. Past medical alone total $590,000 and his lost wage claim per year was $110,000. Plaintiff was only 33 years old at the time of this accident, and therefore plaintiff's economic lost claim totaled in excess of $8 million. Plaintiff asked for a verdict between $12.5 and $17.5 million. The jury returned a verdict of not guilty.
